These are the N-VA ministers in the Flemish Government

30 September 2024

After the Flemish government agreement was approved, the division of roles within the new Flemish Government is also known. It will be led by Matthias Diependaele. In addition, the N-VA is sending four ministers to the government: Ben Weyts, Zuhal Demir, Annick De Ridder and Cieltje Van Achter. Our party is contributing substantially to the most female Flemish government ever with our three women.

Matthias Diependaele – Minister-President

Economy and Industry, Foreign Affairs, Digitalisation and Facility Management

Matthias Diependaele led the negotiations and so is now also taking charge of the Flemish Government. In the previous government, he earned his spurs as the Minister of the Budget and other ministries.

Ben Weyts – Vice-Minister-President

Budget and Finance, Flemish Periphery, Real Estate Heritage and Animal Welfare

Ben Weyts is starting his third term as a Flemish Minister. He will oversee the budgetary path mapped out by the previous government. Hardly any further explanation is needed as he remains responsible for the Flemish Periphery and Animal Welfare. Ben will also be the Vice-Minister-President.

Zuhal Demir

Education, Justice and Employment

Zuhal Demir is taking charge of the important Department of Education. She will remain the Flemish Minister of Justice, just as she was in the previous government. In addition, she assumes responsibility for Employment.

Annick De Ridder

Mobility and Public Works, Sport

This is Annick De Ridder’s first ministerial portfolio. She was previously Antwerp’s alderwoman for the port, urban development, spatial planning and heritage and a Flemish MP. Her experience as an Antwerp alderwoman will come in handy as the new Minister for Mobility and Public Works. As a sports enthusiast, the Sport competence also suits her perfectly.

Cieltje Van Achter

Brussels and Media

For the first time, the N-VA is also providing the “Brussels Minister”. This competence is tailor-made for Cieltje Van Achter, who, after two legislatures as a Brussels MP, is also taking on responsibility for Media.
