Assita Kanko receives recognition as a “Rising Star of European Politics”

Parliament Magazine and the MEP Awards Committee wrote: “This is a reward following the significant impact of your work and commitment during your first mandate as an MEP. ‘Rising Star’ MEPs, if re-elected, look set to play an influential role over the next five-year mandate.” The award ceremony took place in Brussels on Thursday 20 March.

Assita Kanko: “It is with great joy and gratitude that I learn of my selection as one of the ‘20 Rising Stars of EU Politics’ by the MEP Awards 2024.”

“Out of more than 700 MEPs, my work has been noticed. This distinction, which honours and touches me, rewards and underlines in my eyes my commitment to defending loudly and clearly the common values of our European democracies. And also my determination to materialise and reinforce these values in the laws of our countries and in the daily lives of all Flemish people and Europeans. In the current challenging geopolitical climate, the next five years will be decisive. If, as I hope, I am re-elected, I will continue my fight for a Europe that protects us and our values.
