Assita Kanko

Member of the European Parliament

Assita Kanko is a Flemish N-VA politician, author and columnist. In May 2019 Assita was elected Member of the European Parliament and Vice Chair of her political group.

Assita is a member of the Committees on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Security and Defence and Human Rights, and a passionate human rights campaigner; championing the rights of women, children, and the fight against FGM. She also works on policies related to integration and migration, and combatting and preventing crime and terrorism.

She has founded an organisation called Polin, that encourages equal opportunities and more female involvement in politics.
