The Maltese Roberta Metsola was elected as the new President of the European Parliament following the sudden death of David Sassoli. Roberta Metsola also enjoyed the support of N-VA MEP Assita Kanko. “Roberta Metsola is a woman who gained her place in a macho culture that I have experienced myself. As a politician, woman and feminist, I certainly applaud her career and encourage women to take risks to climb the ladder instead of waiting for quotas.”

“Roberta Metsola is a trailblazer for women who want to achieve something without clinging to quotas,” said Assita Kanko, who worked closely with her on a parliamentary inquiry committee in Malta.
