Facility municipalities

A municipality with special bylaws governing the use of the official languages. The 1963 Administrative Language Law establishes the language in which communication with the government must be carried out in certain Belgian regions. There are special regulations in a number of Belgian municipalities. Here, “facilities” are allocated to residents who speak another language. They are legally allowed to use another national language than the language used in the area in their communication with the government. However, these facilities are only applicable to the residents, and not to the municipal officials! The N-VA wants to gradually get rid of these facilities regulations.
