European Free Alliance

Through the European Free Alliance (EFA) parliamentary group, established in 1999, regional partners have received more power to get their voices heard in the European Parliament. This is what makes the EFA a part of a larger parliamentary group together with the Green parties today. The EFA was also recognised as a European political party in 2004. It aims for the most autonomy possible for the people and regions in Europe. It unifies approximately 40 regionalist or autonomous parties from more than 10 EU Member States. The N-VA is still currently a member of the EFA party, but is no longer represented in the EFA parliamentary group within the European Parliament.
