We will not give in to terrorists

On behalf of the Flemish Government, Minister-President Geert Bourgeois extends his sincerest sympathy to all the victims and their loved ones following the attacks at Zaventem Airport and in the centre of Brussels. “In particular, I wish to thank the security and emergency services, as well as everyone who spontaneously helped another person in need. I also want to take this opportunity to call on all Flemings to show solidarity and mutual support.”

“I am shocked by these atrocious and cowardly attacks carried out at the very heart of our European democracy”, Geert Bourgeois said. The flags on all buildings of the Flemish Government are currently flying at half-mast.

Acting in solidarity

“Now is the time to act as a community and emphasise our common values: freedom, democracy and respect for the rule of law. We may not and will not give in to those who aim to destroy these fundamental values”, the Flemish Minister-President concluded.
