The new repatriation of IS brides is incomprehensible

A new repatriation is apparently underway for IS women and their children currently still in Syrian camps. A Belgian investigation team went to the scene to question those involved. MP Koen Metsu says this is incomprehensible: “Six IS brides were selected for the previous repatriation. Only two of these are still behind bars. It is incomprehensible that the federal government wants to repeat this operation once again.”

First and foremost, this presents a security risk, says Koen Metsu. “I spoke with some of those women myself some time ago. They showed little remorse for their actions. What guarantees do we have that these women have suddenly come to their senses?”

“Such a repatriation also costs a lot of money,” Koen continues. “The previous repatriation operation cost the taxpayer a striking EUR 1.7 million.”
