La N-VA compte sur un large consensus pour une intervention en Syrie

The penalty payments judge has decided that the Belgian state does not have to pay any penalty payments to IS fighters. The judge was of the opinion that the IS parents are exploiting their children so that they themselves can be repatriated. “I am pleased that on that crucial point, the judge has the same reading as ourselves about the judgement. The state does not have to pay these penalty payments, in view of the fact that the parents themselves are ensuring that the judgement cannot be carried out,” the N-VA reacts.

N-VA pressure on the government

Since the judge’s decision, the N-VA is putting pressure on the government from Parliament to prevent these penalty payments from having to be executed. “We will continue to hammer this point home. The responsibility lay and also continues to lie with the parents,” the N-VA says. “I call on the government to keep on interpreting the judgement of the court literally and not to place any additional obligations on itself as the Left in the Parliament is demanding. They would like the mothers to come too. Fortunately the court has a different opinion in this regard.”
