The N-VA demands clarity on the Syria arms embargo

20 March 2013

The position of the N-VA is reluctant with regard to France and Britain’s plan to lift the EU’s arms embargo on Syria. At last week’s Spring Summit, London and Paris vigorously advocated for the provision of arms to the moderate Syrian rebels so that they can oppose the Assad regime. But lifting the embargo entails risks, given that there is no guarantee that the weapons supplied would make it to the moderate rebels, instead of the radical Jihadists. The N-VA is advocating for the Belgian federal government and the European Union to take a clear position.
