The N-VA accuses the ACW of tax fraud and conflict of interest

14 February 2013

An N-VA investigation shows that the Christian labour movement, Algemeen Christelijk Werknemersverbond (ACW, General Christian Workers’ Alliance), has been using an ingenious system for over 12 years in order to pay as few taxes as possible. Everything hinges on a historic system of dividend warrants that was continued even after the nationalisation of Dexia Bank. The coordinating organisation ACW, which has close ties to the political majority party CD&V, is potentially guilty of the misuse of corporate assets and tax fraud in order to evade taxes. To keep up the façade, they creatively doctored the annual accounts. The N-VA requests that the federal majority parties establish a parliamentary investigation committee. In the meantime, the Tax Inspectorate is investigating the financial section of the file and the Brussels office of the public prosecutor is examining the legal section.
