SMS alarm for missing children

A text message alarm for missing children is being introduced. Minister of the Interior Jan Jambon wants to extend the BE-alert system launched last year to missing person searches for worrying disappearances of minors. “We are looking at the practical effect of being able to use BE-alert as soon as possible in the case of missing children,” Jan Jambon says. Home Affairs is cooperating with Child Focus on this development. They want to have specific agreements ready after summer. BE-alert was launched in June of last year and over 340,000 Belgians registered to receive the alarm messages.
