New rights for bus travellers a step in the right direction
After 2 years of discussions with the Council of Europe the European Parliament approved an agreement which will provide a legal framework for the rights of passengers travelling by bus and motor coach. The N-VA supports this new law even though it is not perfect and should have been much more ambitious. It is primarily the substantial rights given to disabled passengers which prompted the N-VA to approve the text, although the agreement should in fact have been much more far-reaching. The law mainly sets out the right to receive information and the compensation to which all passengers on long-distance journeys (over 250 km) are entitled in case of delay, cancellation, overbooking, lost luggage, accidents and other events.
