N-VA wants fewer and better European rules

“Europe should only pass legislation when this clearly offers added value,” says Anneleen Van Bossuyt, Member of the European Parliament. Her report on better regulation-making in the European internal market has already been ratified in the competent committee of the European Parliament.

In this report, Van Bossuyt makes concrete suggestions for the European Commission on drafting better regulations. The N-VA politician summarises: “Making legislation simple and easily applicable, giving national parliaments a bigger role, and involving relevant stakeholders at an earlier phase of the legislative process. Once legislation has been voted on, we must also focus on its correct implementation and regular evaluation. We certainly cannot be afraid to repeal legislation after a negative evaluation.”
