N-VA partied along with the LGBT movement at the Gay Pride event in Brussels

17 May 2013

This year too, a number of standard bearers of the N-VA joined in the annual Gay Pride parade. This is no coincidence, considering that the N-VA, since its inception, has been a strong advocate of equal opportunities for LGBT people. We have come a long way since then. Legal equality has been established, and LGBT people can marry and adopt children. But the public debate is still ongoing. The LGBT community is still too often faced with incomprehension and rejection. Homophobic and transphobic violence continues to be a stain on our society. Even today, young LGBT people do not get the support they are entitled to. But our community is open and diverse, because Flemish people come in all shapes and sizes, each with their own unique background, origin, belief and orientation. With this conviction, the N-VA walked at the forefront of the Gay Pride.
