N-VA on Lesbos: “We must dare to advocate an Australian migration model”

We need to do something about the current situation, whereby people from North Africa and the Middle East continue to flock to Europe and succeed in entering Europe by paying a human trafficker as part of their illegal migration attempts. We can only do this if we opt for the Australian model, signing agreements with countries such as Tunisia and Egypt to arrange safe and proper reception in these countries.

Migratory pressure on Europe will increase

The N-VA is not in favour of the dispersal of refugees in the EU Member States. “We are on the same page as Austria: if you empty Moria of refugees and disperse 12,000 people, it will just quickly fill up again. This will only compound the drawing power. The problem is that Europe is under enormous migratory pressure, which will only increase in the coming decades. We Europeans need to decide once and for all how we are going to tackle this.”
