N-VA hopes Di Rupo quickly draws up formation memo
The N-VA hopes that PS President Elio Di Rupo will draw up as quickly as possible a real government formation memo clearly showing what he must achieve intrinsically, and with whom. We have understood that Elio Di Rupo will first hold a series of bilateral meetings with all of the parties and, in other words, he will first work to investigate, on behalf of the crown, whether a proposed cabinet formation will succeed. Given that summer is fast approaching, the N-VA hopes that Di Rupo will quickly draw up his memo so that, since he is charged with forming a new government, he can lead the actual governmental negotiations.
The N-VA has at least made sure that, after 11 months, Di Rupo has a very clear understanding of what the party wants. Concerning reformation of the state, the N-VA believes that it is essential that all governments in this country take up financial responsibility for their own policies, and that a sufficient amount of socio-economic leverage is transferred to the federated entities. In addition, the N-VA is very much looking forward to Di Rupo’s proposals on a socio-economic and societal level. On the socio-economic level, the N-VA wants to put more effort into saving money and into reforming Social security Social security is currently managed at the Federal level in Belgium. The most important pillars of Belgian social security are: sickness and invalidity insurance (NIDHI), pensions, unemployment insurance and child allowances. In addition, occupational illness, occupational accidents and annual holidays are dealt with at this level. Some Flemish parties have been campaigning for years for (large parts of) social security to be transferred to the Regions and Communities. social security . Societally, the N-VA primarily wants to make the change towards a resolute judiciary policy and a stronger asylum and migration policy.
These reforms have been necessary for many years, but appear to be impossible to implement. The N-VA calls on Elio Di Rupo to make it clear in the coming weeks as to whether or not this willingness is now there. In any case, the Flemish voters made this signal clearer than ever last year.
