N-VA advocates minimal provision of service in aviation

Zaventem Airport is the second largest economic driver in the country, and tens of thousands of jobs depend on the airport operating smoothly. So if the airport is laid low by a strike, it is very damaging to the economy. “That’s why there urgently needs to be a minimal provision of service,” the N-VA says.
It is high time that a minimal provision of service is introduced in aviation as well, says the N-VA, the co-initiator of the minimal provision of service at the NMBS. “Brussels Airport is in direct competition with nearby international airports such as Schiphol, Eindhoven and Charles de Gaulle. A strike like the one on 13 February damages confidence in Zaventem Airport and threatens to drive airlines away.”
Clarity for passengers
“Today, as a passenger, you have at least a little bit of certainty about which trains will be operating or not. The same should apply to aviation. In this way, the thousands of passengers at Zaventem Airport and the regional airports will have clarity about their flight.”
The guaranteed provision of service for aviation was a part of the coalition agreement of the Michel I government. “Unfortunately, Minister Bellot has done nothing in this regard,” the N-VA regrets.
