Jan Jambon is calling for a sense of responsibility after new relaxations

3 June 2020

“It is our joint responsibility to ensure that we can introduce further relaxations soon.” On various TV programmes, Flemish Minister-President Jan Jambon gave information about and explained the new relaxations announced by the National Security Council on Wednesday. Everything is allowed again, unless it is explicitly forbidden. However, Minister-President Jan Jambon warns that caution is still needed. “There is always the possibility that we will have to reverse the relaxations, so let’s keep a close watch on compliance with the measures.”

Health care to the federal states

Now that the phases of the exit from the coronavirus lockdown are rapidly succeeding each other, the first lessons are gradually being learned. Minister-President Jan Jambon has already learned two things. “First of all, I think we need to look at how we can keep the production capacity of strategic products, such as protective equipment, closer to home. And the second is that you need to have homogenous powers and that it is best to organise health care at the level of the federal states.”
