“If the Flemish do not dig in their heels now, there will be a government without a Flemish majority”

The N-VA is calling on the Flemish parties to be united in the federal negotiations. “The French-speaking parties and above all the PS must see that they cannot drive a wedge between them. It is a matter of self-respect.”
A matter of self-respect
For the N-VA, Flemish unity is a matter of self-respect. “We cannot after all continue to tolerate that the PS keeps on forcing its diktat on us, that it is lecturing us while we have been paying the bills for years upon years now. That has to stop at some point. If the Flemish do not dig in their heels now, there will be a government without a Flemish majority and that’s something we certainly don’t want.”
Not afraid of elections
The N-VA reiterated that it remains prepared to shoulder its responsibility. “But I am not afraid of new elections. We are not pushing for them, but if they happen, we will rise to the challenge and enter the fray in full force.”
PS doesn’t want to go to the negotiating table
The attitude of the PS doesn’t meet with much comprehension from the N-VA. “During the first 100 days following the elections, the PS didn’t want to go to the negotiating table with the N-VA, and now that it has done so after all, it turns out that it only did so for the sake of appearances and is delivering Koen Geens and the N-VA a massive kick in the teeth.”
