Flemish Minister Muyters is international Expert Minister for Anti-doping Policy

10 May 2013

Philippe Muyters was designated, on behalf of the European Council of Ministers for Sport, as the Expert Minister for Anti-doping Policy on the Foundation Board of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). WADA is the global organisation responsible for establishing anti-doping rules, determining banned products and granting recognition to doping labs. WADA's policy is determined by the Board, which is composed of representatives of sports federations as well as members of governments. Europe may delegate three Ministers, two of whom are appointed by the Trio Presidency of the European Council of Ministers, and one Minister is nominated because of his expertise in the field of anti-doping. This week, the 27 Member States decided unanimously to nominate the Flemish Minister for Sport Philippe Muyters for this position.
