Flemish Government reaches 2012 budgetary target

25 January 2013

Flemish Budget Minister Philippe Muyters (N-VA) can close budget year 2012 with a positive result of 241 million euros, which means that Flanders have once again reached its target: a balanced budget. This is due to Flanders' careful budget policy and the early budgetary audit that the Flemish Government carried out last year. According to Flemish Minister Muyters, “We can cut back Flemish debt by 195 million euros.” This improved debt situation will have an impact on the interest we will have to pay in future. And it proves once more that our keeping our budgets balanced and choosing at the same time to keep on investing sustainably is the best way to prepare Flanders for the future."
