Di Rupo government’s good marks for Kabila are unwarranted

11 January 2012

Prime Minister Di Rupo’s congratulations addressed to President Kabila are unwarranted according to the N-VA. The government is now co-legitimating Kabila’s regime while ignoring the many irregularities that took place before, during and after the elections. The N-VA hopes that the calm that had now finally returned to the Matongé neighbourhood in Brussels will not be jeopardized by this. Di Rupo is in complete contradiction with the signal given by Minister Reynders when the latter did not attend the swearing-in ceremony. The message given by the Prime Minister is undermining Belgian diplomacy’s credibility in the eyes of our European partners. The N-VA once again calls for the government to draft a detailed memorandum on Central Africa.
