Defence delivers vital aid to thousands of families in Gaza

The Belgian Defence Forces have carried out their final humanitarian airdrops over the Gaza Strip. Minister of Defence Theo Francken underlined the importance of the mission: “With this operation, we have taken concrete action to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Thanks to the dedication of our servicemen and women, thousands of families now have access to essential supplies.”
Twelve airdrops, 190 tonnes of aid
As part of the international operation Cerulean Skies 2, Belgian forces conducted twelve airdrops in total—delivering around 190 tonnes of food, drinking water, and medical supplies. After the United Arab Emirates, Belgium provided the largest amount of aid among all participating countries. The supplies were carefully prepared in Jordan before being dropped from A400M transport aircraft of the 15th Wing.
Pride in the commitment of our forces
Minister Theo Francken praised the efforts of all the teams involved:
“With our airlift capacity, we have made a real difference for the people of Gaza. This is what Defence stands for: stepping up when it matters most.”
He concluded: “Our servicemen and women have shown that Belgium is a reliable partner in international missions. They deserve our deepest respect and gratitude. Through their professionalism, they have helped make a tangible difference in a region that urgently needs our support.”
