Bart De Wever: “We take note of the diktat issued by the PS”

14 February 2020

We take note of the diktat issued by the PS. The number-three party in Belgium thinks it can impose its own opinions on everyone else, and that it can carry out negotiations in the media. Against the will of Flemish voters the PS wants to usher in a government that is as left-wing as possible, without a majority in Flanders. The PS even wants to provoke elections, solely and only with the hope of weakening the N-VA and strengthening itself.

The N-VA has always taken a constructive position at the negotiating table. We defended:

  • a further implementation of the socio-economic recovery policy that has brought unemployment in Flanders to its lowest level ever, while also increasing purchasing power. With the right choices to get more people into employment in all the regions, it is possible not only to restructure the budget, but also to increase purchasing power. This applies to those on a low pension and people in work alike;
  • a resolute security policy, with a focus on the effective enforcement of sentences by a more modern justice, and a strengthening of the migration policy;
  • a realistic energy and climate policy which keeps the newest nuclear power plants operational;
  • a clear evolution towards Flemish and Walloon autonomy, to provide a solution for the ever-increasing differences in the democratic realities of the federal states.
