Asylum chaos: Already 1,254 judgements against the Vivaldi government for violating international asylum law
This year alone, there are already 1,254 judgements by a court of law against the federal government for violating international asylum law. That is more than six judgements a day. This was the response of the new Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration, Nicole de Moor, to a question from MP Theo Francken during the discussion of her policy statement yesterday evening.
Theo Francken: “I have been trying to gain insight into this for months. I am finally getting an answer. And it turns out that all of the Vivaldi government’s promises to be ‘more humane’ and ‘respectful of international law’ in dealing with asylum and migration are empty words. In reality, asylum chaos reigns. The government has already had 1,254 judgements against it this year. It has never been this bad. Flanders deserves better.”
