“For the 14,000 students and 6,000 teachers of Dutch abroad, the programmes of the public broadcaster can be a good support in their studies.” At the initiative of the N-VA, VRT NU is being made available to students and teachers of Dutch abroad. European regulations on broadcasting rights, among others, only allow you to view broadcasts from the country where you reside when you are abroad. This is now changing: students and teachers can from now on request access to the VRT.

The N-VA currently wants the same regulation for the Dutch public broadcaster. “We asked Minister Gatz to raise this issue with his Dutch colleague for the Dutch public broadcaster within the framework of the Dutch Language Union. He promised to do so. In order to lend some weight to the matter, the N-VA itself also submitted a request to the Committee of Ministers,” the N-VA says.
