MS Amlin, a lead insurer of the business market, is also setting up a European subsidiary in Brussels following Brexit. “We are especially pleased that we can now welcome a third major name to Brussels so soon after Lloyd’s and QBE,” Minister of Finance Johan Van Overtveldt says.

MS Amlin belongs to the Japanese insurance group MS&AD, which is among the top ten insurers worldwide. MS Amlin specialises in damage insurance, shipping insurance and aviation insurance, as well as reinsurance. The company employs some 2,400 people worldwide at 26 locations.

Actively promoting Brussels

MS Amlin is citing as the reasons for its decision, among other things, our entrepreneurial climate, the high quality of our regulatory framework and the central geographical location of Belgium in Europe. “This announcement proves once again that our approach of actively promoting Brussels abroad as a financial centre is working. What’s more, by focusing on specific activities such as insurance, market infrastructure and innovative financial technology, we succeed in expanding the Brussels financial landscape,” Minister Van Overtveldt concludes.
