Focusing on rebuilding Libya

20 October 2011

The rebuilding of Libyan society is a process that will take many years. In addition to reconstruction, Libya also faces the difficult task of launching a process of national reconciliation to guarantee stability in the country. So says the N-VA following the permanent eradication of the Libyan leader Gaddafi. Our military commitment within NATO must now turn into a civil commitment in Libya. The fact that Gaddafi’s death means he will not be able to be tried in the International Court of Justice in The Hague, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1970, is a shame, as he could have provided the world with a great deal of useful information. The N-VA nevertheless hopes that the removal of the Libyan dictator will put a definitive end to hostilities in the country.
