Flemish "game fund" a great succes

25 June 2013

In June 2012, the Flemish Government decided to encourage the production of video games in Flanders. A “game fund” was created in order to offer support to the sector. According to recent data from the Belgian Entertainment Association, almost six million video games were purchased in Belgium last year, and consumers spent almost EUR 200 million on them. But the production sector in Flanders is gradually getting off the ground. Turnover for the games sector in Flanders, which includes both the producers and the distributors of video games, is estimated to amount to EUR 45 million. More and more companies focusing on gaming and 3D technologies are appearing, and we are getting signals from the world of education that Flemish game makers are becoming ever more sought after in leading international companies.
