Anneleen Van Bossuyt candidate president of important EU committee

The ECR The N-VA is a member of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), a conservative, eurorealistic parliamentary group in the European Parliament. The N-VA shares their realistic view of the European project and also advocates for the correct and intensive application of the subsidiarity principle. For example, we must not be afraid to ask ourselves if it would be better to leave certain European initiatives to the Member States. The N-VA also identifies with the emphases that the ECR places on the social-economic issues. Since the 2014 elections, the ECR has become the third largest parliamentary group in the European Parliament. ECR group in the European Parliament has put forward MEP Anneleen Van Bossuyt as Chair of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO). “I am especially grateful to the ECR group for its confidence in me,” a satisfied Anneleen Van Bossuyt responds. “It is with exceptional ambition that I have become the present candidate for chairing that committee. When my appointment is confirmed next week, I want to work, from a front row seat, on the further development of the European internal market and better consumer protection.”

The position of Chair of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection has been vacant since the UK elections of last Thursday. Indeed, current chair Vicky Ford, who sits in the ECR group on behalf of the British Conservatives, was elected to the British House of Commons. “It would be a great honour to succeed Vicky, who has delivered excellent work over the years,” said Anneleen Van Bossuyt.

Most influential when it comes to digital files

Anneleen Van Bossuyt has been an MEP since 2015 and quickly made her mark on the committee which she is now a candidate to chair. For example, the independent non-profit organisation VoteWatch Europe recently elected her as the most influential Belgian MEP in digital and telecom policy.
